PSLE Oral Surefire Way to Fail

PSLE ORAL – SUREFIRE WAY TO FAIL
Blame internet?
Things you learn on the Internet
• Be wary of what you learn online…
• And don’t repeat what you have learnt in an actual PSLE oral examination!
• Sometimes, you can form bad habits without knowing it!
• Here are some examples…
Things you learn on the Internet
• WHAT IS “LOL”?
• LOL – LAUGH OUT LOUD
• I have a student who actually “LOL” at my jokes…literally.
• JUST laugh like a normal person!
• It’s part of having a conversation right?
• No more “LOL” right now and just laugh like a normal, adorable kid
Things you learn on the Internet
• WHAT IS “IDK”?
• IDK – I DON’t KNOW
• I have a student who keeps saying “IDK” to everything.
• I ask a question, and I get “IDK”.
• If you get too used to saying that, then you are not thinking.
• Imagine saying that to the oral examiner.
• Examiner: Do you enjoy playing sports? Why or why not?
• Student: IDK…
Things you learn on the Internet
• WHAT IS “noob”?
• A “Noob” is saying that someone is new or ignorant about something.
• Maybe it comes from the word “newbie”…hence, “Noo-B”.
• But please don’t use internet slang when having a formal conversation with the oral examiner.
• You don’t want to say, “I don’t know, I’m a noob.”
• Examiner may go, “Nani?”
Things you learn on the Internet
• Spelt “sia” OR “siah” – applies to the local context only.
• Students like to add this word to the end of their sentences.
• “I don’t know – SIA!”
• “I like playing sports – SIA!”
• Not sure what gives rise to this…if you know, leave a comment.
• Point is – NO SLANGS during the ORAL examination!
• Good luck!
